Zeta Comic Generator has been updated to the latest GPT-4o model: “gpt-4o-2024-08-06”. Here’s an example of a comic generated with the new model. Give it a try and see the difference! comicgenerator.greenzeta.com

GPT o1

I don’t have api access to the GPT o1 preview model… yet. But acting as a messenger between the comic generator and ChatGPT I was able to generate a comic with the new model. While the result wasn’t any more creative than anything GPT4 would do, it did output a usable comic on the first […]

Screen Reader Accessibility

Zeta Comic Generator is now screen reader accessible! By referencing the AI prompts used to generate the images, the system provides detailed descriptions of each comic strip panel. This feature ensures that users with visual impairments can fully enjoy the creative and humorous content of Zeta comics. Check out the new update and watch a […]

Claude Sonnet

Tested the Zeta Comic Generator with Claude Sonnet 3.5 to create a comic strip. The results are impressive! The AI generated some fun content, though refining the prompts could enhance the output. Explore the full comic strip and see how AI can be used in comic creation.

Alternative Models

The Zeta Comic Generator now has the ability to select from several models for both script writing and image generation. In addition to GPT, you can now use Google Gemini or Amazon Titan for the script. And Dall-E or Amazon Titan for the background images.

Amazon Titan Test

Testing the comic generator with another model, this time Amazon’s #Titan. I was hopeful for this one since Titan does both text and image generation. Connecting via #Amazon’s php library was smooth and easy. The result, however, was very discouraging. The model has a lot of difficulty generating valid code, 4 out of 5 runs […]

Sci-Fi Geek

Alpha Zeta’s living long and prospering at the intergalactic con! 🖖✨ Peace, love, and #scifi! 👽🎨 Background created with #DallE3 and #AdobeFirefly

Crypto Mining 2.0

Alpha Zeta is back at it, mining through #Bitcoin’s latest rally in “Crypto Mining 2.0” 💰🔨. A revamped version of this #CharacterArt including AI background created with #DallE3 and #AdobeFirefly. 👽🎨

GitHub Repo

Getting meta with a comic introducing the code that generated the comic. Complete source code for the Zeta Comic Generator is available on GitHub.

Canvas Balloons

Zeta Comic Generator has been updated with dialog balloons drawn in a <canvas> element. Balloon pointers are no longer fixed to the left and balloon positioning can now be adjusted as new artwork demands. The code was written with the help of #ChatGPT. Read the transcript. And see the result.

Google Gemini Test

Hooked up the comic generator to #Gemini 1.0; I don’t have access to 1.5 yet. Integration was easy. Working with the REST api is very similar to OpenAI. Only text generation was used, image generation is still done with #DallE3 here. As for the result, the model seems to write much more conservatively. Dialog lacks […]

Disguised

New character art added to the Zeta Comic Generator. “disguised” allows Alpha Zeta to operate covertly amongst humans.

Incognito

Nothing to see here. Just your average human in my latest Zeta art: “Incognito” 🕵️‍♂️👽🌃 Background created with #DallE3 and #AdobeFirefly

512px

Zeta Comic Generator now renders images at 512px, for high-resolution hijinks! THE HIGH-RES HIJINKS OF ALPHA ZETA

GPT 4

Experimenting with #GPT4 in the Zeta Comic Generator and so far it’s pretty good. #GPT3.5 had a lot of issues writing the script. In particular, it kept wanting to replace Alpha Zeta with other characters. Up to this point I had been using the `davinci` text completion model. That one is deprecated so, now that […]

Image Export

Adding a download feature to the Zeta Comic Generator. Exported images are captioned with the #comic title, the user-submitted prompt for the strip and the url of the site.

About Page

Adding an About page to the Zeta Comic Generator to better explain the process, available #character art and the #AI prompts used.

Progress Bar

Dressing up the #comic generation page in Zeta Comic Generator with the final #design and layout. The progress bar updates in real-time as various elements of the #comic come in from the #OpenAI #API.

Website Design

The final design of Zeta Comic Generator comic strip page. Above the #comic is the premise provided by the end user and below is the composite script output by the #AI model.

Speech Bubbles

Improving the look of the #comic strips in Zeta Comic Generator with #CSS styled speech bubbles. Interesting that Dall-E can’t seem to distinguish between a soft and hard shell taco.

Character Art

Some of the #character art for the Zeta Comic Generator. Some are pulled from earlier pieces I’ve done and a few are new for this project. They’re all designed to be fairly generic to fit in to the #AI generated backgrounds.

Website Designs

Some #website header mockups for my Zeta Comic Generator. Inspired by 70s era #Marvel covers. The first one incorporates my earlier logo concept followed by a revised design.

Gallery

I have enough test #AI #comic strips saved now to set up a gallery page. The comic generation code is functioning pretty well. The next step is to produce the character art for some variety in the images that, hopefully, will make more sense in context than the professor/programmer FPO art I have in there […]

Prompt Revisions

Working on the #ChatGPT prompt. I understand now why that’s considered a skill. For some reason, the model is hung up on including descriptions of the main character despite explicit instruction not to. Phrases like “describe as if the character is not present” produce better results.

Added a save feature to the Comic Generator, using a #MySql database on the back end. Saved comics receive a permalink to a detail page where you can see all of the elements used to construct the comic.

UI Cleanup

Lots UI cleanup including some feedback now when waiting for the #ChatGPT and #DallE responses. Error handling too since the #OpenAI api can be responsive at times even for paid users.

Premise Input

Adding some #UI to the Comic Generator. The story premise is now entered by the end user and injected into the #GPT prompt. The prompt is a longer instruction describing the rules for generating the comic as a #JSON object needed for compositing.

Early Prototype

A look at the script generated by #ChatGPT as a #JSON object and how the elements are merged into the composite comic strip. Character #art is chosen from a list of corresponding action words, in this case: “standing” & “sitting”

Proof of Conecept

Proof of Concept using #ChatGPT to generate a 3 panel comic strip. In the past, I’ve used #DallE to generate background images for my Zeta Art. This combines a natural language generator to write out the image descriptions based on a supplied premise. GPT generates the plot & outputs descriptions for the image generator. Then […]

Zeta Laptop r2

Revisiting an image asset I’ve been using in my #presentations for the last few years. I needed to update this one with a thought balloon so I’m taking the opportunity to improve the #lineart. #alien #design #illustrator

Pixel Reader

One of the #Canvas features covered in my #tutorial is reading pixel data. This #JavaScript loads a png and converts its color values into an array used to recreate the #PixelArt

Pixel Art Design

Using #PhotoShop to create some #PixelArt to use in the #Canvas #tutorial. The magenta represents a color value to be filled in a runtime, allowing some variation in the image.

Bitmap

And example of generating #PixelArt using a bitmap of black and white values. The eyes shown here were taken from my #ExoBits #NFT project.

Terrain

The #PixelArt #tutorial terrain function accepts an array of heights, spaces them evenly, and fills in the rest. Here it’s used to create mountains and a grassy hill.

Interpolation Functions

A demo of two interpolation functions in the #Canvas #tutorial. One accepts a radius and generates column heights to render a circle. The other accepts an array of heights and generates column heights to render mountain terrain.

Star-field

From my upcoming #tutorial: #JavaScript #PixelArt – HTML #Canvas Without a #Library. Drawing a solid background color and random squares to the canvas to create a star-field.
